Castine - Replacement of Coastal Home
This home sits right on the water in Castine nearby where the Maine Maritime Training Ship State of Maine is docked. The existing structure was showing significant signs of leaning towards the water likely due to the fact that the rear foundation wall of the home acts as a retaining wall to hold up Water Street. Part of this project involved strengthening the rear foundation wall, elevating the new structure in accordance with FEMA regulations, and constructing the new home. The existing timber seawall is also in the process of being strengthened to ensure this property is prepared for sea level rise and anything else the Atlantic Ocean has to throw at it.
